Apple Music users in India can now experience Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless audio quality, as Apple Music officially launches the features in India.
Spatial Audio and Lossless audio quality has come to Apple Music in India. The feature was first announced in June without a launch date, but now the wait is over – with the latest iOS update, Apple have made Dolby Atmos and Lossless audio available in India, at no extra cost to Apple Music users.
Apple Music and Dolby India have since confirmed that all 75 million songs in the Apple Music catalogue can now be streamed in hi-res lossless audio, with thousands of songs also available in lossless high quality audio. Spatial Audio lets the user experience immersive 360° sound when playing back a song, with sounds seemingly emerging from above, below and either side of the listener.
Whilst other streaming services charge a higher monthly rate for services like hi-res audio, since June Apple has been rolling out lossless audio and Dolby Atmos to subscribers in the US and elsewhere without introducing a more expensive price tier.
Not all tracks on Apple Music support Spatial Audio – look out for the badges underneath songs on the app. Bollywood playlists are among those available with Dolby Atmos. Make sure Spatial Audio and Lossless quality are enabled in the music settings of the Apple Music app to enjoy the new feature.
