YouTube Music adds easy switching between audio and music videos

With straight-up music streaming or music videos both on offer, YouTube Music has you covered however you want to listen.

YouTube Music brings the video sites endless music content into one, official place for streaming and compensating artists correctly. Offering a traditional music streaming service as well as a vast amount of video content, switching between them has never been easier before.

YouTube Music now allows listeners to switch between music video and straight up audio with the tap of a button. The switch is seamless allowing the music to keep playing without interruption as you listen or watch.

The feature is available at the top of the Now Playing screen for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers. Simply tap between ‘song’ and ‘video’ at the top of the screen to effortlessly switch your experience.

Switching to audio only allows you to listen to the song without any edits that music videos might introduce, like a spoken introduction or a skit in the middle. In the settings of YouTube Music there is an option to select “Don’t play music videos” if you want only the pure music streaming experience.

The new format-flipping feature is available on Android and iOS for YouTube Music now.
