Popular short-form video app TikTok is testing a disappearing stories functionality in certain countries.
There has been some demand for a stories function on TikTok since its launch, now those users may receive their sought-after functionality. TikTok is now testing a new pilot scheme where users can “share daily highlights that disappear after 24 hours” in certain non-US countries. The stories functionality works similar, if not identical how Instagram stories work, with users having a colorful circle appear around their avatars when a story is added. However, the difference is that TikTok allows users to respond to stories with public comments.
Speaking about the functionality test a spokesperson said to Variety said: “experimenting with ways to give creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community.”
The addition of stories is currently just a test so it may not appear on the app, however, due to the competition of Instagram, it’s likely to add such a feature. Especially as the new avenue of content creation on their platform will keep users creating and engaging on their platform.
