Soundtoys is offering their Little Radiator tube saturation plugin effect as a FREE download until January 2nd, 2022.
Little Radiator is a tube saturation plugin by Soundtoys, and it’s based on the developers’ more advanced saturation plugin Radiator.
Why use Soundtoys Little Radiator?
Though it’s the slimmed-down version of a more advanced plugin, Little Radiator gives you a few leg-ups. For example, it’s a simple plugin to use with an easy user interface – not to mention the lower price!
BPB reports that the algorithm powering Little Radiator is based on the Altec 1566A vintage tube microphone preamp. I can personally vouch for this plugin – it’ll fatten up your drums, vocals, and instruments. In fact, I haven’t found an instrument that LItte Radiator doesn’t complement!
In practice, the ‘Heat‘ knob applies saturation while the ‘Mix‘ knob lets you adjust the blend between the dry & processed signal.
Furthermore, you can apply noise to your signal with the ‘Noise‘ switch too! A tube preamp generates subtle levels of noise, so this switch lets you emulate these preamps easily. And the ‘Bias‘ switch will also give your signal a Lo-Fi edge by degrading your audio signal.
The addition of a Little Radiator’s preset manager is a big help too. Little Radiator features a number of presets that demonstrate what this little plugin can do, and what its saturation algorithm can give you.
