Instagram expand their Remix feature, allowing you to respond to any video across the social media platform with your own video.

Instagram launched Remixes for Reels back in March last year. Much like TikTok’s Duet functionality, Remix lets you take an existing Reel, then record a video or voiceover as a response. Duet has been a core part of TikTok for years now and users love the collaborative community feel of the platform. Instagram are now bringing the Remix feature to all videos on Instagram, allowing creators to respond to and collaborate with anyone, to get discovered by new audiences. This is part of Instagram’s increasing efforts to push video in all forms on the social media platform.

The feature appears to still be rolling out. To remix any video (once you’ve received the update), simply tap the three dots next to a video, then tap Remix this video.

Remix is available on any public video posted after this feature launched. Videos posted prior will not be affected. To allow or disable Remixes, tap the three dots beside the video and choose Allow remixing or Turn Off Remixing.

To disable Remixing on all of your Reels or feed videos, tap the three lines in the top right corner of your profile, Settings, Privacy, Reels and remix, then toggle either of the switches.
