Shakira’s Madrid residency finale became Amazon Music’s most-watched livestream performance by a female artist, with Dua Lipa joining her on stage.

Shakira has set a new Amazon Music livestream record after her concert in Madrid on the 3rd of October became the platform’s most-viewed livestream performance by a female artist.

The show was part of the Colombian superstar’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour and her 12-date Madrid residency. While more than 50,000 fans watched from the temporary “Shakira Stadium”, audiences around the world could tune in through Amazon Music, Prime Video and Twitch.

A record-breaking livestream

The Madrid performance marked Shakira’s first full-concert global livestream, following a three-decade career that has taken her music across languages, genres and borders.

The concert was the eighth date of her Madrid residency, which began on the 18th of September and is due to conclude on the 11th of October. The temporary Shakira Stadium was built within Madrid’s Iberdrola Music complex specifically for the residency, giving the run a suitably large-scale setting.

As Billboard reports, the livestream was also the centrepiece of Amazon Music’s 2026 Women Shaping Latin Music campaign, part of its wider Music Connects Us initiative celebrating women shaping Latin music and culture.

Amazon Music has been backing the campaign with more than just the concert. It has also released a new remix of Shakira’s “Dai Dai”, an Amazon Exclusive 25th anniversary vinyl edition of Laundry Service, merchandise and other fan experiences.

The scale of the event also reflects Shakira’s current popularity on the platform. According to Music Week, “Dai Dai” is Amazon Music’s No. 1 song worldwide in 2026 so far, while Shakira is its most-listened-to Latina artist globally over the same period.

Dua Lipa makes a surprise appearance

One of the concert’s biggest moments came when Dua Lipa joined Shakira on stage for an acoustic performance of “Antología”, originally released on Pies Descalzos.

“For me, it’s an honor and a privilege to sing this song, which means so much to me, with this woman who is so admired and loved around the world,” Shakira told the crowd as she introduced Dua.

Shakira later wrote on Instagram that she was “so touched to hear my song in Dua’s voice, in the same city where I wrote it years ago”, adding: “See how music brings us together? A girl from London and another from Barranquilla!”

Dua also shared her reaction afterwards, telling Shakira in Spanish: “I felt that you, me, and the audience were one. Very grateful to take home such a beautiful memory!”

Billboard states that the duet became a standout moment in a concert already attracting a huge audience both inside the venue and online.

What can artists learn from Shakira’s livestream success?

Shakira’s livestream record is a good example of how artists can make a digital performance feel like an event. The concert already had plenty of momentum behind it as part of her Madrid residency, but Amazon Music gave fans around the world another way to be part of the occasion.

For independent artists, that could mean choosing a livestream for a genuine moment in your career rather than simply broadcasting every gig. A new release, tour finale, special collaboration or one-off performance can give fans a reason to make time for it.

The Dua Lipa appearance also shows the value of creating moments people will want to talk about afterwards. A guest, exclusive performance or unreleased material can give a livestream a life beyond its original broadcast, particularly when clips are shared across social platforms.

It’s also worth thinking about what happens after the stream. Make it easy for new viewers to find your music, follow your profiles and keep up with future releases. Shakira’s concert introduced a huge audience to a performance, but the wider Amazon campaign gave fans plenty of ways to continue engaging with her music afterwards.
