With breakout successes like Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, and Daddy Yankee in recent years, Latin music has exploded in the last decade.

Latin music has always been a global hit. However, we’ve come a long way from La Bamba. In fact, Latin music didn’t have a single song in Spotify‘s global top 100 in 2013. Latin music now sits steadily at the top of charts year after year, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Earlier in the year, we reported that Latin music is expected to hit a landmark $1 billion in recorded music revenues for 2023. Thanks to the breakout success of acts like Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Bad Bunny and the longstanding careers of Latin stars like Shakira and Enrique Iglesias.

With an average annual pace of 10% growth in listeners, Latin music has nearly grown 1000% in the last decade. Artists like Bad Bunny are so popular, that his album actually topped Spotify’s album charts for two years in a row! Un Verano Sin Ti was the most streamed album in both 2022 and 2023.

Latin music has grown 986% on Spotify between 2014 and 2023.

This shows a commitment of Latin music fans to the music that they love. This is represented elsewhere as well, with Luminate revealing that superfans of Latin music spend on average 30% more than other superfans.

Latin music is clearly on top and based on the growth it’s going to continue on after a decade of consistently powerful growth. Do you like Latin music? Let us know in the comments why you love it and which artists are your favourite.
