Deezer on Apple Watch adds offline listening, a feature still missing from Spotify

You can now download playlists from Deezer on Apple Watch. This lets you stream music, without a connection to your phone, WiFi or mobile data.

The music streaming service came to the Apple Watch in 2016. Today Deezer update their Apple Watch app to add offline mode. By downloading tracks directly onto the smartwatch, you can take your music with you, everywhere you go. Perfect for running without a phone or a data connection.

To load tracks on to your watch, simply select the playlists you want to download, this can be editorial playlists, personalized playlists or your favourite tracks. Once your chosen playlists are on your Apple Watch, you can browse music or shuffle all offline tracks. Managing and deleting offline playlists to free up space is easy. Apple Watch range in storage from 8-32GB depending on the model. Remaining capacity can be viewed in the Watch app on iPhone.

This feature has been available for some time on Apple Music and Pandora, but is notably still missing on Spotify. Spotify users on Apple Watch can stream music without a connection to their phone, but this still requires a data connection.


Offline mode is available to all paying users on any of Deezer subscription plans: Deezer Premium, Deezer Student, Deezer Family or Deezer HiFi. All Deezer users will find a revamped Watch app after updating, with easier skip, rewind and pause controls. The remote feature is still available to Deezer Free listeners, allowing you to stream your artists, albums, favourites or playlists such as Flow, a never ending playlists of tracks you love and ones Deezer thinks you’ll love.

These updates are available to all users worldwide on the latest watchOS.


This update comes as Deezer makes streaming via Siri on HomePod much easier.
