Pandora can now stream music from an Apple Watch all on it’s own without having to connect to an iPhone.
Earlier this week we reported on Pandora’s update for their Apple Watch app. Now the new app is live on Apple Watches the world over, eliminating the need for an iPhone connection to stream music or even to download the app.
Before, as with many Apple Watch apps, the device needed to connect to your iPhone to use the app fully. Now Pandora joins Apple Music as the only streaming services you can stream music from using just your Apple Watch, as long as it’s connected to WiFi or data.
Pandora users can download the updated app now. Another new feature is that users won’t even need an iPhone to download the app anymore. They can download it straight from their Watch so they don’t need an iPhone for any part of the experience and can get streaming music and podcasts straight away.
If you already have Pandora installed on your Apple Watch, you will automatically receive the new app when you update to the latest version of the Pandora app on your iPhone. Otherwise, to download the new Pandora app straight from your Apple Watch just follow these simple steps:
- Open the App Store on your Apple Watch.
- Tap the Search bar.
- Select Dictation or Scribble.
- Say or write Pandora and tap Done.
- Tap Get to download the Pandora app.
- Confirm by double-clicking the side button.
- Follow the prompts to install the app.
The new Pandora app for Apple Watch requires watchOS 6, which is compatible with Apple Watch Series 1 and above. Standalone streaming is available only on Apple Watch Series 3 and above. Streaming or downloading from your Apple Watch requires an internet connection — either through Wi-Fi or a cellular plan.
