Pigments is one of the most versatile software syntheiszers out there – it has 2 sound engines with multiple modes of synthesis, and it’s next major update has arrived.

Arturia has announced the launch of Pigments 4. The fourth iteration of the developer’s flagship software synth is here to add new layers to an already incredibly versatile software synthesizer, and so you can explore “every shade of synthesis” and make the sound in your head a reality.

Almost every module has seen an enhancement, and Pigments 4 is a free update for existing Pigments users – giving them a redefined, optimized, and unleashed sound.

Pigments 4 is here

Arturia has left no stone unturned in Pigments 4. Now, Pigments offers a refreshed user interface with a simplified Play Mode and a higher-contrast Light Mode. Originally, users had to manually route modulation in the mod parameters tab – but now you can drag the little tab over an LFO to whatever you want to modulate.

KVR reports that the wavetable engine now has ring modulation, the Harmonic engine has new phase options, and Unison controls are now more streamlined. And new effects & filters also await Pigments 4 users. The MS-20 Filter is new, a Shimmer Reverb, Super Unison, and improvements to a number of existing effects & filters have been made.

Additionally, a selection of new factory presets, wavetables, samples, and noise types are available.

In addition to the software synthesizer itself, new sound banks – the Wavelengths series – are available. While they’re free for new users, registered Pigments owners can get the banks for a discounted price. The Wavelengths soundbank “explores the bold, colorful, exploratory sounds of Pigments 4”, and each bank includes 150 presets and is available on the Arturia Sound Store.

  1. Wavelengths Lo-fi – A chilled beat-making palette focused on lo-fi sounds.
  2. Wavelengths Neuro Bass – Deeper & darker frequencies making use of the engine, filter, and FX enhancements in Pigments 4.
  3. Wavelengths Cinematic – New ambiances and impacts for contemporary film score and library composition.
