While it’s not set in stone, it looks like AI is definitely on Apple’s radar for its music platform, despite not being revealed at WWDC25.

Pre-WWDC25 discussion

Just before WWDC25 (Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference) kicked off, there was a lot of discussion about upcoming features. According to AppleInsider, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg led the way by answering questions on Discord about whether AI features could be coming to Apple Music.

As a reliable source for everything Apple, Gurman indicated there is a planned reworking of Apple Music, with AI likely to feature at some point. Although, a definitive schedule is not yet known.

Apple has been slow to roll out its Apple Intelligence features, with the company even failing to deliver on some of the features announced at last year’s WWDC- including a ‘more personalized’ Siri. Notably, this year’s WWDC features limit references to Apple Intelligence or Siri, despite many new features being powered by Apple Intelligence.

Did Apple drop any AI-powered Apple Music features at WWDC25?

Despite the subtle presence of Apple Intelligence at WWDC25, Apple did unveil new Apple Music features at WWDC25, with one being directly powered by Apple Intelligence: AutoMix. AutoMix uses Apple Intelligence to time-stretch and beat-match tracks, in order to create seamless transitions from one song to another.

Beyond AI-powered features, Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 software will also introduce Lyrics Translation, Lyrics Pronunciation, animated Lock Screen album art, and library pinning to Apple Music.

Are future AI upgrades coming to Apple Music?

The introduction of AutoMix could be the first of many AI features inside Apple Music. AppleInsider suggests that Apple Music could integrate AI into its existing algorithmic recommendation system, offering a natural progression for AI implementation.

Just like Apple Music’s biggest rival Spotify, Apple Music could also introduce AI-generated playlist capabilities based on user-defined themes and topics. Imagine asking Apple Music for a “chill productive vibe” playlist or a “get pumped workout” mix, and AI perfectly curates a playlist fit for your taste.

Whether these features officially launch remain to be seen, but Apple’s current trajectory suggests that more AI features will be on the way to Apple Music sooner or later.
