Apple Music gets fresh features at WWDC25: Animated lock screen album art, Lyric Translation, Lyric Pronunciation, and more
Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 software announcement brings a few neat new features to Apple Music.
Apple’s WWDC25
Yesterday was a big day for Apple, as they held their annual Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC25. This is where Apple unveils all the cool new software updates heading to its devices this fall.
A lot of the buzz this year focused around Apple’s new ‘Liquid Glass’ user interface redesign. The new interface borrows from Apple’s visionOS to give everything a sleek, translucent look- while offering a more seamless experience across all of Apple’s devices. For example, a redesigned floating tab bar which interacts with the user across Apple Music, News, and Podcasts.
Apple Music’s new features coming with iOS 26
While Apple focused on this ‘Liquid Glass’ redesign, the company also announced some neat little features coming to Apple Music. So, what’s new for Apple Music users when iOS 26 drops later this year?
Lyrics Translation
A new Lyrics Translation feature means you can finally understand the lyrics of songs in a different language. This helps you to follow along, no matter the language.

Lyrics Pronunciation
For those who struggle with getting the words just right, Lyrics Pronunciation will be a lifesaver. It’ll help listeners sing along without mumbling gibberish or getting tangled up in the lyrics.

AutoMix
Apple also announced a new AutoMix feature. Powered by Apple Intelligence, AutoMix uses time stretching and beat matching to create super smooth transitions from one song to the next.
Animated Lock Screen album art
As rumoured before the event, Apple Music is introducing animated lock screen album artwork. This means bringing your lock screen to life, with a fresh visual experience when listening to your favourite tracks.

Library pinning
Here’s a feature that has so far flown under the radar. Apple Music users will now be able to pin their favourite albums, artists, or playlists to the top of their library. Pinning makes it much easier to quickly find your favourite playlist, something that I will definitely find useful! If you’ve ever spent too long scrolling to find that one playlist, you know the struggle is real.
Beyond these Apple Music features, Apple also teased other software updates, like bringing studio-quality recording and camera control features to AirPods. Keep your eyes peeled, as more new features are expected to be unveiled in the months leading up to the big fall software update.
