What is a release? The difference between singles, EPs, albums and extended albums.
If you’re new to music distribution you may be unfamiliar with releases and the different types on offer.
Simply put, ‘release’ is an all-encompassing term for singles, EPs, albums or extended albums. If we ask for your ‘Release Title’, this is the name of your album or single.
Different release types
There is no set definition of how long an EP, album or extended album is. Lengths vary between stores and distributors. We choose our definitions to favour most stores and base our Premium distribution models on that.
If you plan on uploading to RouteNote Premium or just want to include the letters ‘EP’ on your release title, it’s important to know our definitions.
