The world’s first Artificial Intelligence drum app is coming

Positive Grid have revealed their upcoming app AI Drums which changes the game of computer programmed drumming for authentic feeling jams and recording.

Positive Grid claim that their upcoming artificial intelligence powered drum app feels like playing with a real session drummer, saying:

AI Drums will be your best songwriting partner. With a few finger taps, it quickly learns your song structure, BPM, and music style. You can even change the feel of each drummer depending on your personal taste. AI Drums will look out for thousands of drum patterns and drum kits from the cloud and virtually match your songs. The more you play with AI Drums, the more it will learn about your drum preferences. But this is just the beginning…

AI Drums lets you play, write, and rehearse with a virtual drummer powered by the latest AI technology and deep machine learning. It works like magic: AI Drums listens to your guitar strumming and sorts out a matched drum pattern that best suits your compositions. Just tap to record and the app will learn and play the right drum pattern.

AI Drums gives you instant access to dozens of cloud-based drum patterns created by professional drummers, plus thousands more created by the Positive Grid community. With a simple finger tap, an infinite cloud-based pattern library will be available to preview and download.

AI Drums allows you to customize your own drum kit and share plus download thousands more on the cloud with the Positive Grid community. Change any and every drum component, mic models and placements, room control, and more. You can go into deeper drum customization by changing the individual instrument options such as pitch, volume, damping, EQ, compression, preamp, and limiter.

This looks great! Handy that you can change to suit your particular taste as you’d worry about getting stuck with a beat the machine ‘thinks’ I want. Think it would be perfect for working out a drum beat while writing so you can hand your human drummer a neatly working beat to play around with when rehearsal comes up. Wonder if you can submit your own beats as part of the ‘Positive Grid community’.
