Apple TV update: Use your iPhone as a karaoke mic with Apple Music Sing on tvOS 26
As announced at WWDC 2025, tvOS 26 brings updates to Apple’s karaoke feature, Apple Music Sing, alongside other Apple TV features.
Apple’s WWDC keynote announced updates to all of their operating systems, including iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26. The headline feature is Apple’s new design language ‘Liquid Glass’. Alongside the visual redesign, updates were announced to Apple Music and AirPods.
As well as Liquid Glass, tvOS 26 brings profile-switching enhancements, simplied app log ins, updates to FaceTime, new aerial screensavers and a big update to Apple Music Sing. Apple Music on tvOS 26 is getting the same Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation features that are coming to all of Apple’s platforms.
Apple Music Sing launched on Apple TV towards the end of 2022. This feature bring a karaoke-like experience to the living room, with adjustable vocal levels, real-time lyrics and visual effects.
Now, Apple are improving the experience for karaoke parties. Multiple users can now amplify their vocals through the TV by using their iPhone as a handheld microphone. Also, anyone can now queue up songs and react with onscreen emoji.
tvOS 26 is compatible on the 2015 Apple TV HD (4th generation) and all three Apple TV 4K models (1st generation, 2nd generation, and 3rd generation). However, Liquid Glass is only coming to the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV 4K. The updates to Apple Music Sing are only available on the 3rd generation Apple TV 4K when paired with iPhone 11 or later running iOS 26. All of Apple’s previews, including tvOS 26 and iOS 26 are available to developers now. The public betas will be available next month, with general availability coming in the fall.
