Amazon will live stream an “intimate hometown show” of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for their first hosted concert.

Amazon have revealed they will be hosting their first ever live concert. Amazon are to live-stream the event which will take place in Seattle this Friday where the rapper Macklemore and his producer Ryan Lewis will perform in celebration of their new LP ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve Made’ releasing.

Amazon have been making some interesting moves in live streaming lately – only last month Amazon hosted a live stream of US President Barack Obama’s last State of the Union address. This will however be Amazon’s first music streaming event and marks a significant shift in focus as Amazon also advance further with their music streaming service. Currently packaged with Amazon Prime there have been suggestions that Amazon will release a separate, standalone music streaming service.

Amazon’s hosting and streaming of this concert is part of an effort by various music streamers to expand into visual media. Apple Music only earlier this week announced that their online radio station Beats 1 would be hosting and streaming their first ever concert, a The 1975 gig.

The Macklemore and Ryan Lewis concert will available to watch on your computer on February 26th, 9:00pm PST/Feb. 27th 12:00am EST from: http://www.amazon.com/hometownshow-video. It will only be available to stream from a desktop computer and not mobile devices.
