TikTok could bring perfect promo for upcoming albums

TikTok look to be adding a new feature that will make promotion for your next album release even more effective.
It’s not easy to attract attention when you have an album on the way. Social media apps offer some of the greatest engagement for artists with free access to a global audience. TikTok may be boosting that with an update to their ‘Add to Music App’ feature.
Last year, TikTok added their ‘Add to Music App’ feature allowing users to easily save the music used in videos. The feature has been a huge success for artists and listeners, with music an integral part of the content on TikTok.
A report from Music Ally suggests that the feature may be expanding to allow pre-saves for entire albums. Music Ally spotted the feature being tested on the app. They reported seeing a ‘pre-save album to’ button that took them through to an upcoming album on Apple Music or Spotify.
The potential feature presents a fantastic opportunity for artists to share promo for their upcoming releases, sending fans straight to the release for a pre-save. Whilst the feature is not official and may not be launched fully, TikTok have confirmed the feature is in beta.
Pre-saves allow users on Apple Music and Spotify to save an album to their library in advance of release. This means that it’s there and ready to be played on release day. This also allows users to add songs and albums to playlists in time for their release.
How to add music to TikTok, Apple Music, and Spotify
To make use of this feature, artists will want singles from their upcoming albums available in TikTok’s music library for use in videos. Artists will also want their album uploaded in advance to Spotify and/or Apple Music.
