Spotify’s Pop Up playlist features the most popular Anglo pop music in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

While Justin Bieber comes from Canada, Ariana Grande from Florida and Dua Lipa from Britain, each of these artists have energetic and expanding fan bases not only in their home countries, but also within Latin America. The new playlist Pop Up, gives Latin American listeners of English top hits a single destination on Spotify.

Pop Up features the top charting artists in the region – those with over 100+ million streams. The playlist already has over 5.5 million followers, with more than half of the audience Gen Z and young millennials. Spotify are updating Pop Up every week with new tracks from Anglo pop artists around the world, allowing listeners to enjoy their favourite hits and discover new tracks.

The launch of Pop Up is a natural expression of how Anglo pop culture works in this diverse and music-savvy region that is Latin America. It also presents a massive opportunity for us to connect even deeper with an audience full of young people who live for music and the biggest pop hits.

Anglo pop currently ranks in the top 10 of the most-streamed genres across Latin America. This year has seen a nearly 25% increase in the number of pop streams from Spotify users in Latin America. Seeing the highest growth over the past two years of the five countries, Colombia alone has seen a 36% increase. Since the playlist’s inception, Pop Up has become part of the top 50 most-streamed playlists worldwide by daily active users. Chartmetric lists Pop Up at number 30 for the most-followed playlists worldwide on Spotify.


Spotify have also listed the most-streamed artists and songs from Latin American listeners on the playlist this year.

Finally, Spotify have shared some country by country data. Argentina have recently shown love for One Direction, Brazil for Lady Gaga and Shawn Mendez, Chile for Bruno Mars, Colombia for Maroon 5, and Mexico for Selena Gomez.
