YouTube make saving songs from Shorts for use in a video later, or full streaming on YouTube and YouTube Music easy.

YouTube are finally taking advantage of their all-in-one short-form, long-form, music streaming platforms to help push their lead above TikTok and Instagram Reels. This move should provide a seamless music-listening experience from Shorts.

When you find a song you like in a YouTube Short, tap the sound icon in the bottom right corner to see a page of videos that use that sound. The save icon makes it easy to find when creating your own Short. Saving a song will also add it to a playlist called “Sounds from Shorts” in YouTube and YouTube Music for full streaming.

It’s no wonder that TikTok are looking to launch their own music streaming service. Back in May, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance trademarked the name “TikTok Music”, with the filing describing a typical music streaming app.
