How to use YouTube Shorts outside of the US and India

YouTube’s bite sized videos are making waves but they’re only available in the US and India currently. Here’s how you can upload Shorts from elsewhere.

YouTube Shorts is the platform’s answer to TikTok and Instagram Reels. Short, easy to make videos with a set of tools from YouTube to take your clips to the next level with soundtracks and fun editing options.

After a hugely successful beta test in India, YouTube Shorts became available in beta for the US last week. If you’re in the US or India then you can check out our other article with a guide to creating your own shorts and tips on what you can do for your Shorts videos.

For those of you outside of the US and India, you can still take part in the fun! The creation tools haven’t launched yet beyond those two countries but you can still upload Shorts everywhere else.

How to upload Shorts wherever you are

Any video that you upload that is vertical and 60 seconds or less qualifies as a Short! We suggest including #Shorts in your Shorts title or description, as this will help YouTube to identify your video as a Short and recommend it across the platform.
