Becoming partnered with Twitch is a great way to monetize your streams and get access to a variety of benefits on the platform.
Twitch is a popular streaming platform that is loved by gamers but is also used by a wide variety of creators, including musicians. Like other platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, there is a sought-after ‘tick’ which means you’re recognised by the platform as an important creator.
This is called being a Twitch Partner and comes with a wave of benefits, but there are some requirements you will need to meet first.
What does being a Twitch Partner mean and what are the benefits?
Before we discuss how to become a Twitch Partner, it’s best to talk about what being a Twitch Partner means and its benefits.
As a Twitch Partner you will get access to the high priority support team that can help with any issues, ranging from serious to simple. The time they can take to answer a question can between 1-2 business days, which when you look at the volume of streamers is amazing.
You will also be able to monitise your platform in the following ways:
Twitch Subscriptions – Twitch Partners are able to earn money by accepting subscriptions to their channels.
Ad Revenue – Partners can play ads on their channels and earn revenue off that, similar to YouTube. You can control the frequency and length of the mid-roll ads through your Twitch account dashboard.
Bits – Emotes that your viewers can buy and support you in Twitch chat with.
How to become a Twitch Partner
Once you have met the following criteria you can apply to become a Twitch Partner and be applicable for all the above-mentioned benefits. This is something that Twitch calls the ‘Path To Partner’ and is designed to help you grow as a streamer.
They are as follows:
- Stream for 25 hours in the last 30 days
- Stream for 12 unique days in the past 30 days
- Reach 75 average viewers in the last 30 days.
Once you meet the above requirements you will be eligible to apply for the Partner Program. These achievements will be in your setting and once completed will have a checkmark next to them. Completing the above does not mean automatic partner status, you will need to apply via your dashboard. It usually takes Twitch 7 business days to reply with their decision.
