Tell your phone to play Spotify with Google Assistant support
Tell your Android phones what you want to play on Spotify with the convenience of voice control through Google Assistant.
Since August Spotify users have been able to stream their Spotify music through Google Home, Google’s AI powered home speaker. Now Google and Spotify are bringing that power into the hands of millions of Android smartphone owners.
Spotify has been integrated to work with Google Assistant so that you can simply tell your phone what you want to listen to, and start playing. The function will be available to free and Premium Spotify users who will be able speak with the Google Assistant for music streaming on any Google Assistant-supported devices.
In their announcement of the new functionality Spotify said: “We’re thrilled to continue to work with Google to help fill all of our users’ lives with music, whenever and wherever they are.”
If you’re just getting started with Spotify on your Google Assistant on your mobile, here are a few tips:
- Link your Spotify account and set Spotify as your default music service
- Ask your Google Assistant to play music! Here are a few sample voice commands to get you started:”Ok Google, play Spotify”
