The Joe Rogan Experience Tops The Podcast Charts Whilst Bad Bunny Dominates With 8.3 Billion Streams

When it comes to Spotify’s wrapped, which comes around each year you’re likely to sit in one of the two camps. You are either all for it, sharing your wrapped and looking at others with curiosity (or judgement), or you absolutely hate it and couldn’t care less. No matter your opinions on on Spotify Wrapped it cannot be denied that seeing the streaming giants data in one place is very interesting.

Along with your own personal wrapped Spotify have also done their own overall wrapped that covers what we, the listeners have been enjoying the most during this year of lockdowns and extra time.

Most Streamed Artists Globally

The Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny takes top spot with more than 8.3 Billion streams this year, his album ‘YHLQMDLG’ (released in late February) included collaborations with Sech, Anuel AA and Daddy Yankee. This album also takes the number one spot as most streamed album.

Billie Eilish remains Spotify’s most-streamed female artist for the second year in the row, closely followed by Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. They are followed in fourth and fifth place by Dua Lipa and Halsey

Most Streamed Songs Globally

The most streamed song of the year is The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’, which held out strong after being the second most-streamed song of the summer with nearly 1.6 billion streams. Second and third place were taken by Australian Tones And I’s viral 2019 track ‘Dance Monkey’ and Roddy Ricch’s ‘The Box’. Coming on fourth was Imanbek and SAINt JHN’s ‘Roses – Imanbek Remix’, followed by Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’

Most Streamed Albums Globally

As mentioned earlier 2020’s most streamed album was Bad Bunny’s ‘YHLQMDLG’ which built up a staggering 3.3 billion streams. This was followed by The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’ and Post Malone’s ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’. Trailing behind this was Harry Styles‘Fine Line’ and Dua Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia’

Most Popular Podcasts Globally

2020 was arguably the year of podcasts. There has never been more podcasts available covering a wide range of topics and interests. Spotify alone has over 1.9 million titles and of course the most streamed is the controversial The Joe Rogan Experience, following this is TED Talks Daily and The Daily. Heading in at fourth place is the recently released Michelle Obama Podcast followed by the comedy/advice show Call Her Daddy

Most Popular Podcast Genres Globally

Podcasts on Spotify cover a wide range of topics and interests that cater to a wide range of listeners. But what were people listening too in 2020? As expected Society & Culture comes in a number one, followed closely by comedy (who didn’t need a laugh this year.) Next up was Lifestyle & Health, Arts & Entertainment and Education.
