A new iteration of VirtualDJ is here! After two years, the new VirtualDJ 2023 software builds on the initial introduction of real-time stem separation that the software offered all that time ago.
In the previous version of VirtualDJ, we saw some major updates and the launch of its real-time stem separation. Now, VirtualDJ 2023 is built with Stems2.0 – a new engine that utilizes artificial intelligence and Deep Neural Networks Machine Learning in order to extract stems of better quality.
Now, extracted stems are crisper and clearer without the need of having the original audio to hand.
VirtualDJ 2023 allows you to isolate and extract vocal lines, whole instrumentals, drums (kicks and snares), and basslines. Furthermore, you can manipulate any stems you extract in the software in two ways.
Firstly, you can use the ModernEQ feature and its simple user interface that is compatible with any MIDI controller. Alternatively, you can use VirtualDJ’s Stem performance pads which also work with MIDI controllers with pads like Ableton Push, Maschine Mikro, and more.
Ultimately, Stems2.0 is at the heart of VirtualDJ 2023. As a result, the software is offering so much more quality –the developer claims that VirtualDJ 2023 can provide you with studio-quality stems! And this has been received well by initial users of the software, including those that weren’t so impressed with previous iterations of the software.
Moreover, it wasn’t so long ago that Serato released the launch of their own Stems feature. And VirtualDJ’s launch of Stems2.0 has added heat to the long debate of Serato vs VirtualDJ.
To make use of VirtualDJ’s Stems2.0 engine, you’ll need to ensure that you’re using the most recent version of VirtualDJ 2023. Users of early access editions reported a number of software bugs and the Stems2.0 software wasn’t functioning properly on any system other than macOS 13 or newer with an M1 or M2 processor.
