Spotify for Artists 2025: A recap on all the new features
The last year has been a huge year for Spotify’s artist plaform, with new tools and features for artists to power their streaming with.
As we close another massive year for digital music, Spotify are recapping on the huge achievements and updates of Spotify for Artists. They highlight a year in which they helped to deepen fan connections, improve transparency, and introduce powerful new music promotion tools.
For the independent artists who use RouteNote to get their music on Spotify with ease, these tools offer profound control and abilities to promote their music, find new fans, and maximise their streaming potential.
From the rollout of lossles audio to advanced AI protections, here is everything that happened on Spotify for Artists in 2025 and how you can use these tools to grow in 2026.
Video and Hi-Fi audio enhance fan’s experiences
This year, Spotify bridged the gap between audio and visual content. Music videos officially exited beta after a long period of testing, rolling out to over 100 global markets.
Fans can now watch official videos and live performances directly within the app, keeping audiences engaged longer and on a deeper level. Listeners can choose to switch between the audio and music video on tracks with the music video attached.
What’s more, after years (5, in fact!) of waiting and rumours, Spotify finally brought Lossless Audio to their streaming platform. The enhanced audio quality is available to switch on for Premium listeners.
For artists, this gratifying launch means that you can ensure listeners have the chance to listen to your music with greater depth and technical clarity.
In addition, Spotify expanded their Song Credits to ensure that producers, engineers, and songwriters are more visible on the music they worked on.
How to supercharge your release strategy
Several new discovery hubs dropped on Spotify this year, making the “waterfall” release strategy more effective than ever with even more places to get discovered.
- Upcoming Releases Hub: A dedicated in-app destination where fans can browse your future drops and pre-save tracks via Countdown Pages
- The Drop Weekly: A new Friday destination featuring short-form video and editorial commentary to highlight the week’s best new music
- Spotify Marketing Awards: A new initiative celebrating the most creative and impactful indie and major release campaigns of the year
Activate your super-listeners
The digital music industry has bred a new type of fan and everyone is talking about them: The superfan. These listeners are the dedicated, return-listeners who simply can’t get enough of an artist’s music and are the most likely to buy merch, concert tickets, and more.
New research from Spotify this year showed that, whilst these fans only make up around 2% of artists’ monthly listeners, they account for nearly 18% of streams and 50% of ticket sales.
To boost the potential of these fans, Spotify helped build connections between artists and superfans by streamlining their Campaign Kit. Artists can now manage Marquee and Showcase campaigns more efficiently by grouping multiple sub-campaigns under one budget, making it easier to target different global markets simultaneously.
Transparency for the industry and protection from AI
The streaming industry saw its most successful year yet in 2025, with record revenues for artists. However, it also came with increasing pressures as AI music profilerates.
Spotify took steps to make it even clearer to artists, listeners, and industry folk what they are doing for music. In reaction to advancing technology, Spotify introduced:
- AI Protections: New policies to remove unauthorised vocal clones and block mass uploads from artificial sources
- Anti-artificial streaming tools: A new masterclass designed to help artists avoid “streaming farm” scams that can lead to track takedowns
- Content Integrity: Artists can now flag incorrect releases directly in the Spotify for Artists dashboard to keep their discography clean
Their Loud & Clear report returned, revealing that in 2024 they paid a record $10 billion out to the music industry.
