Backed by global partners and real resources, Spotify doubles down on creator well-being with a new wave of mental health support.

Spotify’s Heart & Soul program

Being an artist today means more than just making music. The pressure to create, perform, and stay visible online can take its toll. That explains why Spotify is stepping up to offer something that goes beyond just raising awareness, but providing real mental health support.

Spotify’s Heart & Soul, Mental Health for Creators initiative is an expansion of the platform’s Heart & Soul program launched in 2018. This time around, the support is broader, deeper, and more global- while still being focused on the emotional wellbeing of the music community.

“Heart & Soul is our commitment to the creators behind the music. Artists and songwriters face immense pressure, and their mental health can’t be an afterthought. Supporting creators’ well-being is essential to sustaining a vibrant music ecosystem. By working closely with trusted partners like Backline, we’re not just offering resources, we’re helping drive lasting change in how the industry approaches mental health.”

Lauren Siegal Wurgaft, Head of Social Impact at Spotify

So what are Spotify actually doing about it?

Spotify’s latest efforts sees them partner with leading nonprofits to rollout out several new offerings aimed at helping artists, songwriters, and their teams access meaningful care when they need it:

  • Direct financial support: Spotify is investing in groups like Backline, MusiCares, Noah Kahan’s The Busyhead Project, and more to help expand their reach and services.
  • Greater access to therapy: Current and upcoming EQUAL, GLOW, and RADAR ambassadors in the US and UK will get access to therapy funding, which they can use personally or gift to bandmates and crew members.
  • Global resource hub: Backline and Spotify have launched an international database of mental health resources and crisis support lines, available in multiple languages to help artists around the globe.
  • Wellness on the move: From studios to festival stages, Spotify wants to meet artists where they are. Mobile mental health resources will help bring calm no matter how stressful the environment.
  • A dedicated Spotify hub: Spotify’s new Heart & Soul, Mental Health for Creators hub features playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks designed to support artists and creators mental wellness.
  • Spotlight on Stories: Spotify is amplifying creators’ real mental health stories across Spotify for Artists and Spotify Songwriting to break the stigma and encourage openness.
  • Support for songwriters: Spotify is hosting small events that bring songwriters together in dinners and studio sessions to talk about mental health.

A step toward long-term change

This isn’t just a one-time campaign. It’s part of Spotify’s push to foster a healthier, more supported music ecosystem. While this marks a step in the right direction, Spotify’s Head of Artist and Label Partnerships Monica Herrera Damashek was keen to stress the continued importance of mental health support:

“This is only one step, and we’ll continue to build a more supported environment for the artists who shape culture every day.”

Spotify recognises that mental health in the music industry is still too often overlooked. Its latest initiative is a much-needed reminder that behind every piece of music remains someone who might need help, understanding, and access to care.

With Heart & Soul, Spotify is making it easier for artists and creators to find that support- whenever and wherever they need it.
