Latin America makes up over 20% of Spotify subscribers

Latin music has become massive especially on Spotify and it’s not just the artists, as a massive portion of listeners are Latin American too.
It was recently revealed that Latin music has grown an astonishing 986% on Spotify in the last ten years. In fact, it turns out that Spotify have helped to play a part in the growing dominance of Latin music in recent years with breakout stars like Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, and Camille Cabello. Their presence has blown up with billions of streams on Spotify.
It turns out that it’s not just Latin artists having a big influence on Spotify. Whilst the explosion of Latin music has been worldwide, with fans globally, listeners in the region are also keen streamers.
In a recent report, Spotify revealed that 21% of their users around the globe come from Latin America. This a massive percentage, representing over 120 million of Spotify’s 574 million global users. They didn’t reveal the percentage of these users who are paying subscribers as opposed to free listeners.
The data was revealed by Spotify’s general manager in Latin America, Mia Nygren. She said: “I am extremely excited about the future for us in Latin America. We’ve come so far and we have room to grow, but of course that comes with a huge responsibility.
“There is still more talent to be discovered, and we are excited to help them go from local stages to regional to finally the global scene. It’s noteworthy that 21% of all Spotify global users are in Latin America, highlighting the significant impact and potential of this market.”
With such huge successes in the region for both artists and listeners, we can expect to see investment from Spotify in the area in 2024.
