You can now search for Instagram Reels by the music used in the video thanks to the new dedicated audio tab.

Instagram wants Reels to become the new go to short-form video app over TikTok, as they push further into video. The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri recently shared what’s next for Instagram as they continue to experiment with new ideas, saying “We’re no longer just a square photo-sharing app.” The latest feature to get added to Instagram replicates the ‘Sounds’ tab on TikTok.

Audio search should make finding videos that use certain music clips easier on Instagram Reels. When you search for a track or tap the song below a Reel, you’ll be brought to the audio page, that will show every video that sampled that song. The new feature seems to be rolling out to users, but some will find the audio tab under the search bar on Instagram.

Instagram says to find the new audio tab:

  1. Open Instagram app
  2. Go to the explore tab (the magnifying glass icon)
  3. Tap on search bar to open Instagram search
  4. Tap on the audio tab to access search results
  5. Tapping on results will take you to the song’s audio page where you will see reels that use it
