Guitar Hero but with lightsabers in virtual reality and you have to dodge and shimmy as you musically strike: now coming to Facebook on Oculus.

Facebook have announced that Beat Games will be joining them to create unique, VR gaming experiences for Oculus. The studio is now owned by Facebook but will continue to operate on an independent basis whilst continuing to update their releases for other platforms.

Facebook have announced the acquisition as part of their “quest to bring VR to more people around the world.” Beat Games will join their Oculus Studios team in Prague to create more experiences that combine music and VR gaming.

Facebook said: “Beat Saber is a perfect example of why VR is so exciting – VR re-imagines old genres and invests new ones. The team at Beat Games made a leap forward in innovation and design with the stellar blend of game mechanics and music in Beat Saber, and yet we know that they, along with so many other devs, are just getting started.”

Facebook mentioned in their announcement that they are looking to explore as many ways to push VR as they can. On the topic of acquiring other studios, they simply said: “We think next year is going to be an incredible one of VR game launches and announcements. We are thrilled to have Beat Games join our team. This is just the beginning.”
