Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound by JBL: An RGB lamp and JBL speaker
The ‘Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound by JBL’ hides a JBL speaker in a color-changing, wi-fi, smart LED lamp.
Consumer electronics company Govee, known for the smart lighting and other smart appliances, first showed off the H6020 at CES earlier this year. Now, the product is actually launching under the name Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound by JBL. The lamp is an upgrade to the Table Lamp 2, bringing a new speaker, battery and design tweaks.
We’ve seen some similar products from the likes of Sonos and IKEA with their now discontinued Symfonisk line. Although the impressive speaker could wirelessly connect to your existing home set up, the lamp aspect was less smart, with no wi-fi control or color-changing without adding a smart bulb. Likewise, there are plenty of Bluetooth speakers with RGB lights, but nothing we’ve seen designed to light up a room.
The new lamp has a cylindrical design with squidgy feet. It stands at 10.1 inches tall and has a diameter of 6.1 inches, weighing 5.3 pounds. Along the top there are a physical power button, and capacitive volume, playback and preset scenes buttons. The speaker is portable, with a 5,200mAh battery, which is good for around 4.5 hours, with volume and light brightness at around 50%. It uses a barrel plug and not USB-C unfortunately. While the speaker is portable, it is not waterproof.

As in some of their other products, the lamp aspect uses Govee’s RGBICWW lighting technology – Red, Green, Blue, Independent Control, White, and Warm White. There is a high density array of 210 independent-controlled LED beads, which can produce a spectrum of colors, as well as warm and cool white light, up to 600 lumens. With over 100 preset lighting modes, 64 scene modes, 8 dynamic and 8 soft music-reactive lighting modes, the light can dance or glow in time with the music, with only a 32ms delay.

The lamp is made in collaboration with established audio brand JBL for the speaker. There is a 10W 2.5-inch full-range driver that works with JBL’s advanced equalizer algorithm. There are built-in ambient sounds and matching light scenes.

The light can be controlled in the Govee app, with the ability to automatically turn it on or off at certain times. Using Music DreamView, you can sync it with up to 10 additional Govee lights. It’s compatible with Matter, so can plug into Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home to tie it to other routines, or control it through an existing smart speaker or device. The Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro itself does not have any built-in voice assistant.

Unfortunately the speaker cannot be controlled through wi-fi or AirPlay 2. Music can only be played via Bluetooth. There is also no multipoint for connection to more than one device at a time. You can however pair two speakers together for stereo sound.

The Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound by JBL launches on Monday, June 23 for $179.99.
