Google seem to be looking at ways to bring YouTube Music into AI Gemini for deeper user control and music search functionality.

A new spot from Android Authority sees Google’s AI explore control of your music streaming experience. They managed to active YouTube Music as an Extension in the Android app for Gemini, Google’s AI.

The feature lies beneath the current build of the artificial intelligence app, suggesting the features may be launching widely soon. One of the Android Authority community managed to active YouTube Music as an extension in the Google app. So, what can it do?

The YouTube Music extension in Gemini allows users to command the AI to search for and play music within their library and on the platform at large. Gemini takes data from your YouTube Music app to power its potential and take music from your profile.

Adding the extension will also allow the Gemini app to display results from YouTube Music. Users can then easily tap through to listen to music from the results on the streaming service. If you don’t have the YouTube Music app then Gemini will open the web version of the service.

Gemini has a “Music Provider” feature which allows you to set a default app for playing music. The YouTube Music extension is different, refining your search with YouTube Music information.

Android Authority predict that the YouTube Music extension is likely to launch soon, stating that the feature looks “rather finished”.
