Indian playback superstar Arijit Singh set to headline London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

This September, Arijit Singh will become the first Indian musician to headline a stadium show in the UK. The Bengali singer, who quietly dominates global streaming charts, is set to perform at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on 5th September 2025.

Singh’s career shows how a dedicated global fan base and streaming platforms can elevate an artist beyond traditional media recognition. He has never had a song in the UK Top 100 singles or albums, but he has more followers on Spotify than Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran – over 147 million. In fact, he ranks just behind Harry Styles in monthly listeners worldwide. As reported by The Guardian, Singh’s upcoming stadium show isn’t just a musical event; it’s a powerful moment for Indian culture on the international stage.

Singh is widely known for his work as a playback singer in Indian cinema, where vocalists record songs for actors to mime on screen. This requires emotional range and depth, something south Asian BBC presenter Nihal Arthanayake says Singh has mastered: “The greatest singers are great actors – they bring emotions through, and none more so than someone like Arijit Singh.”

His breakout hit Tum Hi Ho, from the 2013 film Aashiqui 2, helped launch a career that now spans more than a decade. Yet Singh has stayed rooted in his hometown of Jiaganj, West Bengal, and rarely speaks to the press. A review of his 2024 O2 Arena show by The Guardian described his performance as exuding “humility,” a quality fans admire.

Singh’s music is primarily in Indian languages, and he isn’t focused on crossing into western pop markets. “They aren’t reliant on the white gaze to give them credibility,” Arthanayake said of Singh and his peers. “They’re huge as it is.”

The upcoming stadium show reflects a wider trend: Indian artists like Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, and Shreya Ghoshal are commanding major stages in the UK. It’s a reminder of how global platforms and diaspora audiences are reshaping the live music scene, opening doors for artists without needing traditional industry validation.

Tickets for Arijit Singh’s history-making Tottenham Hotspur Stadium show will go on artist presale tomorrow (3rd June), with general presale kicking off on Friday 6th.
