AKAI Pro has released the MPK Mini Plus which is set to take the MPK Mini series to whole new heights…
The AKAI MPK Mini Plus features many connectivity options not often found on MIDI controllers at this price point.
In fact, the new MPK MIDI controller features everything that’s good about the MPK Mini MK3 & the MPK Mini MK3 Play & builds on them.
AKAI Professional MPK Mini Plus
AKAI’s new MPK device features the Dynamic Gen 2 keyboard which is also found on the Mini MK3 & MK3 Play. This key bed is more responsive yet quieter than the keys found on the MPK Mk 2.
Furthermore, the Mini Play also boasts a sequencer offering eight voices of polyphony per step or 16 per drum step, in addition to an onboard arpeggiator.
But the MPK Mini Play offers advanced connectivity with external devices! Now you can control all of your favorite studio devices with the hardware integration that this compact 3-octave MIDI keyboard offer.
The Mini Play offers USB, CV, Gate, DIN MIDI (In & Out), and Clock Sync ports that allow you to create a signal chain of synthesizers and other MIDI gear that you can control with the MPK Mini Pay!
And like its predecessors, this MIDI keyboard features RGB-backlit, velocity-sensitive MPC Pads.
Other similarities include its eight assignable 360 encoder knobs, the renowned X/Y joystick, and the clear OLED screen found on the MK 3 & MK 3 Play.
But new additions to the interface include Mod & Pitch Bend wheels, an onboard Chords Mode that plays multiple notes with the press of one key, and a Scales Mode.
These modes mean you can ensure the keyboard only plays notes in a selected scale, or you can play chords with no knowledge of music theory – and there are 15 settings for both.
These additions are AKAI’s answer to the same features found in the Komplete Kontrol A25, M32, and other entry-level MIDI controllers like the Novation Launchkey Mini MK3.
