Bang & Olufsen speakers get voice control with Google Assistant
Loads of speakers are getting AI’s but high end speakers often sacrifice the convenience for ultimate quality. That’s changing with Beosound speakers.
Bang & Olufsen have earned a name for making seriously good tech from their expansive range of premium audio products to televisions. The next wave of Bang & Olufsen’s speakers will be getting on in the new trend of voice controlled artificial intelligence built into the speakers making it easy to control your speakers just by telling them what to do.
Bang & Olufsen have announced that they’ll be upgrading their Beosound 1 and Beosound 2 speakers with Google Assistant for new versions in September. The 2 year old speakers have already supported a range of wireless streaming options with Chromecast, Airplay 2, and Spotify Connect functionality. The upgrade will evolve the speakers from high quality wireless streaming beauties into a full smart speaker with voice functionality and smart home control.
The Beosound 1 features a built-in rechargeable battery allowing it to be taken out and about, though how far you would want to go with a speaker that costs $1,750 depends on your bravery and the size of your wallet. The Beosound 2 is more expensive at $2,250 and isn’t portable however has an incredible sound that the Beosound 1 comes close to but can’t quite match.
Considering how cheap many smart speakers are available, like the Amazon Echo available for under $100 and even higher quality speakers like Apple’s Homepod costing less than $400, these speakers probably aren’t worth getting for smart functions alone. But if you’re looking for great sounding, high quality speakers with up-to-date functionality and are willing to spend a bit the new Beosound’s may be the pick for you when they’re launched in September.
The updated Beosound range will be available next month in the US, UK, Canada, Austria, France, Germany, Spain, Ireland, India, Italy, Japan, and Mexico.
