It’s finished, the song is written, the pieces are recorded, the tracks are produced and the final mix down complete – what’s next? Creating, recording and finishing a track can feel like the whole process…

Ryan Adams has announced that he is releasing ORION on limited edition clear vinyl on his website. What is ORION, you ask? It is a “fully-realized sci-fi metal concept album.” Yes, really.
With song titles like “Imminent Galactic War,” “Disappyramid,” “Defenders of the Galaxy,” “Victims of the Ice Brigade” and “Ghorgon, Master of War,” only one thing about this record is for certain – it is badass.

As if Simon Cowell didnt have a big enough ego already, he is getting ready to be knighted by the Queen in the Quees’s Birthday Honours List. The Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor judge, 50, is expected to be dubbed “Sir” for his charity work and generating millions for the British record industry.
Cowell surprisingly endorsed David Cameron to lead Britain in the final few days of campaigning. But Mr Brown had made no secret of his admiration for the mastermind behind the star-studded fundraising CD for the victims of this year’s Haiti earthquake. Cowell, who has even dined at No10 with Mr Brown and wife Sarah, helped to raise almost £1million for the appeal by getting the likes of Robbie Williams and Rod Stewart to help record Everybody Hurts.

Jimi’s Hendrix’ London home will be open as part of the commemorations of the 40th anniversary of his death. The Mayfair flat will be open the week starting September 15th and closed again on the 26th.
The apartment was previously occupied by composer George Handle up until 1759. Sarah Bardwell, the director of Handel House said, “After moving to Brook Street in 1968, Hendrix learned of the Handel connection with the building and headed to One Stop Records in South Molton Street and HMV in Oxford Street to pick up whichever records of Handel music he could find. He was obviously intrigued by the connection and were pleased to celebrating his own legacy today”.

Spotifylaunches two new options to use their service: Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Open.
Spotify Unlimited: costs £4.99 a month, and offers unlimited ad-free music – but ONLY on the computer. If users want mobile access, better sound quality, offline access and other premium features, they’ll still have to sign up to the £9.99-a-month Spotify Premium service.
Spotify Open: Spotify Open is a different flavour of the ad-supported free version of Spotify which caps people’s monthly usage. They’ll be able to listen to the service – with ads – for 20 hours a month. People can sign up to Spotify Open without needing an invite. The Spotify Free service isn’t being scrapped – yet – but it will still be invite-only.
“Up until today, new Spotify users have had two options – either subscribe to the full Spotify Premium experience or receive a Spotify Free invite from a friend,” says Spotify CEO Daniel Ek. “Following Spotify’s major upgrade, we wanted to give music fans new ways to enjoy the service. Now everyone who wants a great introduction to Spotify without an invite, or who wants to enjoy unlimited, ad-free music just on their computers, can do so.”
Additionally: Spotify has just launched in the Netherlands today, so make sure you head to the site and get in!
Arcade Fire will be releasing a new single very soon. The band has issued a hand-written postcard message on their official website revealing that they are planning on releasing a new, 12-inch single in the next couple of weeks.
The group’s next album (might be titled The Suburbs) is possibly due for a June 1 release. But probably not. But maybe!
“Just finishing up pressing our new 12-inch,” the band declares in their digital postcard – humorously addressed to The Internet.
“Should be in stores in the next couple weeks. God willing.”
