With everyone at home a lot more at the moment Google decided to see how people were listening to Spotify through their Nest and Google Home speakers.

The whole Quarantine life has started slipping in to summer now and with the summer comes a whole new wave of sunny playlists and happy music. Google have taken a look at some of the trends as people get their summer mixes out on Spotify.

They’ve seen a 45% increase in playlists created by listeners specifically for summer-ready tunes. Overall, searches for “summertime songs” have blown up by over 1,150% according to Google Trends.

Who are the most popular artists as the summer vibes come on? It looks like Drake, Lady Gaga, and The Weeknd are topping searches around the world so far this year.

Looking forward to the summer months yet to come Spotify have made some predictions as to what will be 2020’s summer songs. Interestingly they predict that two songs from 2018 and 2015 will be big this summer, probably due to their political relevance and powerful messages: This Is America by Childish Gambino, and Alright by Kendrick Lamar.
