Spotify are testing interactive podcast ads

No more remembering promo codes, Spotify will soon provide links to advertiser’s websites with promo automatically activated.

The new feature In-App Offers allows podcast creators to embed advertiser’s links into the episode details, making it easier than ever for listeners to utilise sponsored content. This is a great feature for advertisers too, as they know exactly who sent the user.

This is a development of a their Streaming Ad Insertion tool introduced in January, allowing targeted audio ads on podcasts. This feature has begun rolling out across exclusive shows and territories.

The average podcast listener has heard a countless number of ads ending with promo codes or show-specific websites, carefully repeated three times so as not to forget it. In-App Offers makes it vastly simpler for listeners to redeem deals whenever they come back to the app, and we can all benefit from one fewer ‘w-w-w-dot’ spelling lesson from our favorite podcast creators.
