YouTube are increasing the price of Premium subscriptions in various countries, including a $5 price hike for family plans in the US.

YouTube Premium family plans give six users under the same roof access to all of the features of YouTube Premium. This includes ad-free videos, offline playback, background listening, as well as full access to YouTube Music Premium, for six individuals, each with personalized recommendations.

After a one-month free trial, YouTube Premium family plans in the US used to start at $17.99 per month. This price has recently been increased to $22.99 per month, or $29.99 per month for those subscribed through the Apple App Store. Pro tip, check subscription services’ prices outside of the app, before subscribing through the app.

Likely anticipating a significant amount of negative feedback, YouTube have opened a feedback form specificially for the price increase.
