Where is Spotify AI Playlist available?
Spotify is expanding their beta generative-AI playlist curation tool to the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand.
Launched in beta in April earlier this year, to the UK and Australia, Spotify says “users have created millions of playlists” using the AI Playlist feature. According to the announcement post, there are 22 billion new artist discoveries a month on Spotify, with 2 billion of these turning into last connections. AI Playlist is yet another discovery tool on Spotify, featuring some of your personal favorites too.
AI Playlist is an easy way to turn your ideas into playlists. Simply use plain text to describe the vibe you’re after. Spotify recommends for best results, use a mixture of genres, moods, artists or decades in your prompt. You can also reference places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors and emojis. Spotify gives the examples “upbeat pop music for my European summer vacation” and “a romantic playlist for date night at home”. Spotify will instantly turn your words into a 30-track playlist, which can be tweaked by deleting suggestions. Users can also use “Refine this playlist” to further tweak the output, with prompts like “Add a touch of chilled R&B too”.
Spotify AI Playlist is rolling out now in English to Premium users in the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. The feature is already available in the United Kingdom and Australia. The feature is available on the Android and iOS app. Unfortunately it’s not available on the desktop or web apps yet.
How to use AI Playlist
- Go to “Your Library” in the bottom-right corner of the mobile app
- Tap the “+” icon in the top-right corner
- Choose “AI Playlist”
- Select a prompt or type out your own
- Preview and delete tracks or refine with additional prompts
- Once you’re happy with your selection, tap “Create” to save the playlist to “Your Library”
Spotify says the feature is still in beta and won’t produce results for non-music-related prompts, such as current events or specific brands. They also have measures in place around offensive prompts.
