Tidal brings Dolby Atmos Hi-Fi music to televisions
Tidal are expanding their support for Dolby’s ‘moving audio’ high quality music so users can listen on Smart TVs.
At the end of last year Tidal, who have championed high fidelity streaming, partnered with Dolby to stream their Dolby Atmos quality music. Dolby Atmos promises a new dimension of audio that uses space paired with the highest quality music for a new level to the music.
Tidal have now expanded their support for Dolby Atmos on their streaming platform to Apple TV 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K, Sony Smart TVs, Philips Smart TVs, and more (full list below). For those with high quality TV surround sound setups, or even just an applicable soundbar apparently, Dolby Atmos is now available to fill the room.
Dolby promise that Atmos Music is precisely placed and output from speakers so that it moves through three-dimensional space. They say: “A new sensation of height immerses you in the action, creating a full audio atmosphere and realistically depicting objects overhead.”
It has mostly been championed as an incredible sound experience for use in movies and gaming also seems to be taking it up but Tidal are taking advantage of the music potential in 3D sound. Music available in Dolby Atmos will have a sticker on Tidal so that Hi-Fi subscribers with compatible audio setups know where to look.
