You might not know the former President and his First Lady have a production company but now they’re coming to your favourite streaming services.
President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are partnering their production company Higher Ground with Spotify. The partnership will bring exclusive podcasts to Spotify.
The Spotify partnership will see the Obama’s producing new audio-based content win an expansion on their company called Higher Ground Audio. Both President Obama and Mrs. Obama will develop and produce podcasts as well as taking part in them to start discussions around the world on a variety of important topics.
President Obama said himself: “We’re excited about Higher Ground Audio because podcasts offer an extraordinary opportunity to foster productive dialogue, make people smile and make people think, and, hopefully, bring us all a little closer together.”
The Obama’s launched Higher Ground productions last year and have already signed a deal with Netflix for films, shows and features from the company. President Obama said himself that they created Higher Ground “to harness the power of storytelling.”
He explained their purpose, saying: “Touching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights, and much more, we believe each of these productions won’t just entertain, but will educate, connect, and inspire us all.”
Michelle Obama said of the content they’re producing: “We think there’s something here for everyone – mums and dads, curious kids, and anyone simply looking for an engaging, uplifting watch at the end of a busy day. We can’t wait to see these projects come to life – and the conversations they’ll generate.”
Spotify’s Chief Content Officer, Dawn Ostroff added: “President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are two of the world’s most important voices and it is a privilege to be working with them to identify and share stories that will inspire our global audience, which looks to Spotify for unique, breakthrough content.”
Keep your eyes peeled for podcasts from the Obama’s coming soon, exclusively to Spotify.
