Spotify now lets you use its library within DJ software
DJs and music lovers can now mix directly from Spotify’s massive catalog inside rekordbox, Serato, and djay.
Spotify adds DJ software integration
Spotify has just announced a big one for DJs. Premium users across 51 markets can now connect their libraries straight into popular DJ software. No more awkward workarounds, your music is ready to go.
You can create mixes beyond just your saved tracks and playlists too. The feature gives access to Spotify’s entire music catalog, including editorial playlists- making it easy to quickly add any track you like into the mix.
This new feature builds on Spotify’s push for a more customised and personalised listening experience. After launching its “Mix” tool that lets you customise transitions for your personal playlists, Spotify is now handing Premium users even more creative freedom.
How does it work?
Getting started is easy. Here’s the breakdown:
- Open either rekordbox, Serato, or djay on your desktop.
- Log in with your Spotify Premium account.
- Add in your tracks, playlists, or even Spotify’s editorial content.
- Start mixing straight from Spotify’s extensive music library.

Why it matters for the music industry
This integration is more than just a neat add-on. It gives DJ instant access to Spotify’s entire catalog, opening the door to endless experimentation. With such a vast library of music at your fingertips, creating the perfect mix just got a whole lot easier.
It’s also a strategic move. It follows in the footsteps of streaming rival Apple Music who rolled out similar DJ integrations earlier this year. Despite supporting less DJ software, Spotify makes sure to include rekordbox. With support for three of the major DJ platforms, Spotify is positioning itself firmly in the DJ space.
The bigger picture
This move continues Spotify’s trend of boosting personalisation and control for listeners. In recent months, we’ve seen:
- Customisable transitions for playlists
- Greater controls over music discovery
- Personalised cover art opportunities
- Voice-controlled Spotify DJ requests
With many of these additional features rumoured to be a part of Spotify’s “super premium” more expensive subscription tier, it’s nice to see them introduced to Spotify’s existing Premium plan. Now, Premium users are getting a better Spotify experience without the extra cost.
