You want to move to a new music streaming service but don’t want to lose songs you’ve spent years cultivating? Spotify may have you covered.
One of the biggest blockers to moving to a new music streaming service, is the lack of ease with which you can move your music library of saved songs and custom playlists. Whilst third-party services have offered solutions for years, Apple Music recently launched a tool for importing music and playlists from Spotify.
Now, it appears as though Spotify may be launching a response to Apple Music’s new tool. It would make sense, as currently Apple Music offer an easier way to switch to their service from Spotify whilst the opposite isn’t true.
Android Authority have noticed that code in the Spotify app references a feature allowing users to import music. The code suggests that the feature would be available under “Your Library”. More details are unclear, as Android Authority say: “We’re unclear of exactly how this would work, all of what it would let you import, and where.”
Recently, code was found within the Spotify app that suggested lossless audio could be coming to their platform soon. The code showed references, one of which said: “Lossless music, now in premium.”
However, leaks within the code of Spotify’s app have proven fruitless many times in the past. For example, references to lossless audio have been discovered in the years since Spotify announced that they would be introducing lossles quality audio in 2021. As of yet, we are still waiting for the release of Hi-Fi audio on Spotify.
Of the potential new import feature, Android Authority write: “While there’s no direct mention of playlists, we imagine it would include importing playlists as that would be the main use case for a tool like this.”
There is no information as to which services the feature might allow import from. It could be a strong encouragement for many of the users who have settled into a streaming service to give a change a chance.
