Spotify is bringing its first Superfans Experience to São Paulo
Spotify’s first Superfans Experience is coming to São Paulo in 2027, bringing artists, creators and their biggest fans together for an immersive live two-day event.
Spotify is taking its focus on fandom beyond the screen. The streaming platform has announced its first Spotify Superfans Experience (SFX), a new live event taking place in São Paulo, Brazil, on 23 and 24 January 2027.
The two-day experience will bring together music, podcasts, video, audiobooks and culture, with fans getting closer to the artists and creators they love.
For artists and labels, it’s another reminder that building a dedicated fanbase is crucial to creating a strong foundation for a successful music career.
What is Spotify’s Superfans Experience?
SFX is designed around the idea that fandom can turn listening into a community.
Spotify says its local teams used listening insights and fandom research to select artists with particularly engaged fan communities. The announcement includes LUDMILLA, Pabllo Vittar, Luísa Sonza, Matuê, Marina Sena, Pedro Sampaio, Veigh, Juliette, Carol Biazin and more, with further artists and creators still to be announced. You can see the full list on Spotify’s announcement post here.
It appears that fans won’t simply be watching performances from the audience either. Immersive experiences will be co-created with artists, creators, labels and their teams, with activations built around the fandoms behind them.
SFX will also provide space for artists and creators to premiere projects and share exclusive content with fans. That exclusivity is often what helps build a stronger connection between artists and their biggest fans, and SFX looks to take that connection beyond streaming and into the physical world.
Spotify’s choice of São Paulo is significant too. The company describes Brazil as home to one of the world’s most passionate fan communities, alongside a strong live entertainment ecosystem. It sees the event as a potential blueprint for future international editions.
Spotify is doubling down on superfans
The SFX announcement fits into a much wider shift in how Spotify is approaching fandom.
Superfans have long been a popular term in the music industry, particularly when it comes to leveraging them to create more revenue for artists and labels. But last year, Spotify revealed new data on “Super Listeners” for the first time.
Spotify’s findings revealed that although super listeners only make up around 2% of an artist’s monthly audience, they account for more than 18% of their monthly streams. They’re also significantly more likely to share music, attend shows and support artists beyond streaming.
Spotify has continued building features around this idea throughout 2026, from fan-focused tools to experiences that connect listening with live events.
The SFX takes that approach a step further. Rather than simply helping artists identify their most engaged listeners, Spotify is creating a physical space where those relationships can be experienced first-hand.
That matters because a stream is only one part of fandom. A listener who saves your music, follows your profile, shares your tracks, buys a ticket or turns up to a show is much more deeply connected to your career.
What this means for independent artists
You don’t need to be on Spotify’s SFX lineup to take something from this. The bigger takeaway is the continued importance of building an audience that cares about you, rather than chasing streams alone.
Superfans can provide long-term support through streaming, merchandise, live shows and word-of-mouth, while Spotify’s own data points towards the value of sustained engagement.
For independent artists and labels, that means thinking about what happens after someone discovers your music. Give new listeners reasons to stick around. Keep your artist profiles up to date, create content that gives fans something to connect with, encourage people to follow your journey and make your releases part of a wider story.
And, of course, your music needs to be available where those listeners are finding it. With RouteNote, you can distribute your music to Spotify and other major streaming platforms for free, making sure you can reach audiences worldwide.
