Spotify for Artists introduces a new metric to help you find and break down your most dedicated listeners – Active Audience.

Now shown in Spotify for Artists, Active Audience is a set of your Spotify listeners that have actively streamed your music in the last 28 days. This can be on your artist profile, album or release pages, or the listeners own library or playlist.

Active streams differ from programmed streams, which come from Spotify-made playlists, such as editorial and personalized playlists. While both are important to an artist’s success, active listeners are those who have shown an interest in you and are most likely to listen again. Spotify says “On average, people who actively stream a song will play that artist’s music 4x more in the next 6 months.”

Active Audience data is further broken down in Spotify for Artists based on the listener’s streaming history:

  • Super listeners: An artist’s most dedicated active listeners in the last 28 days. They are also the most likely to keep streaming the music.
  • Moderate listeners: Active listeners who intentionally streamed an artist’s music many times in the last 28 days, and could still develop into super listeners.
  • Light listeners: Active listeners who intentionally streamed an artist’s music once or a couple times in the last 28 days, and could develop into moderate listeners.

How to find your Active Audience on Spotify

This data is currently only available on desktop and mobile web. More data from Spotify is always a welcome addition to independent artists looking to take their music to new heights.
