After spotting the Sonos logo on the speakers of Audi’s upcoming car, the American audio company confirmed the partnership.

Sonos, best known for multi-room wireless home sound systems, have partnered with German automobile manfacturer Audi, in a first for the audio company implementing their audio tech in a car. Sonos’ speakers will equip the upcoming Audi 2022 Q4 E-Tron.

Audi published images of the car’s interior on Tuesday. While the press release and images showed off their new AR heads-up display, some eagle-eyed viewers caught the Sonos logo on the door speakers.

There was no word of the collaboration in the press release, but Sonos’ CEO Patrick Spence later confirmed the partnership in a Q&A of a investor event.

We want to be in all the different categories of audio. Our first partnership of bringing our sound experience to automobiles is with Audi. Our first partnership of bringing our sound experience to automobiles is with Audi.

Sonos say they’ll share more details on the partnership soon, presumably at the Q4 E-Tron launch event in April.

Sonos join other major audio companies in providing premium audio experiences on the road, such as Bose, Bowers & Wilkins, and Bang & Olufsen. Outside of cars, Sonos have shown interest in expanding beyond home audio, with a new portable speaker announced last Tuesday and rumoured headphones supposedly in the pipeline.
