This free sample pack comes from a unique hand-crafted percussion instrument
Suitable for hip-hop, lo-fi, funk, soul and more, containing 120 loops and 60 one shots, Shake Hats Beats from One Man Tribe is free.
In collaboration with Bedroom Producers Blog, One Man Tribe’s Ben Aylon has released a free percussion sample pack using the sounds of the Shake Hat, a unique instrument invented by Ben for solo performances.
The pack contains a massive 120 loops and 60 one shots recorded with the Shake Hat, along with a hybrid drum kit, including a deep Brazilian Alfaia kick drum, plus other percussion instruments for extra layering and textures. The samples are categories with 10 folders each representing a different beat, and a sub-folder for each beat containing the drum kit parts as multi-tracks for processing and mixing. You’ll also find an FX layer played through a Roland Space Echo RE-201, included as an independent layer, and full beats mixed with the FX layer produced by Ben Aylon.
The samples are all in WAV format, so you can simply drag and drop them into any DAW. There’s no word on when this offer will end, so act fast! On Ben Aylon’s site, you can even buy your own Shake Hat for $299. The Shake Hat, which is currently $284, comes with a free course and even more samples.
After years of researching the traditional drumming of Senegal, I needed an instrument that will produce high frequencies with a massive presence, in addition to the mid-low frequencies I was naturally able to produce with traditional West African drums that I assembled into my custom Senegalese drum set.
Eventually, I came up with the Shake Hat which is a powerful percussion instrument, my signature sound, known in the global world-percussion community.
After years of using it for my solo show called One Man Tribe, I developed a design that I could offer for other drummers and percussionists. Forming my boutique percussion samples label also called One Man Tribe, I decided to create a sample pack focusing on the Shake Hat as the main inspiration, offering producers the Shake Hat’s sound for the first time in a musical context.
