Pandora has made creating and analysing much easier in its Curated Programs feature in AMP.

Pandora has given its own AMP (Artist Marketing Platform) a couple of updates and improvements over the past year or so. Its latest change is focussed on the Curated Programs feature, which includes new and improved analytics for artists, as well as improved search functionality for creators putting together their own playlists and stations.

What is Curated Programs?

Curated Programs, also known as Pandora Stories, first launched in 2019, is a Pandora AMP feature that enables creators to make playlists and curated stations comprised of music and comedy tracks from Pandora’s catalogue. Creators can add their own, or a collaborators’, commentary by uploading Voice Tracks.

Pandora believes this feature combines all the best bits of podcasts and playlists, and gives creators the opportunity to share their own music and favourite music in a fun, engaging way.

Improved analytics

Pandora has revealed that creators can now take advantage of better and more detailed analytics surrounding their playlists and curated stations.

New metrics are now included in analytics, giving creators a much clearer picture of how their compilations are being received by users and fans. These new metrics and features include:

  • Metrics in listening hours
  • Spins and completion rates now available in edit view
  • Custom lookback ranges
  • Easy selection of 7, 28, 90 day or 1 and 2 year lookbacks
  • Snappy page loads

These updates mean creators can access stats much easier, and tailor the kind of overview they want by focusing on certain periods as well as specific metrics.

Easier ways to add songs

Alongside new metrics and analytics features, Pandora has made the process of adding songs to Curated Programs smoother and easier.

Improvements have been made to searching for, selecting, and adding songs. The filtering options have also been enhanced, with options to sort music by artist, song, album and relevance added. A type-ahead, or search-as-you-type (think Google search), search filter has been added, to help creators find specific songs within a playlist or station’s tracklist. A new and improved audio player in search and within a trackset has also been thrown in.

Summing up

Pandora’s improvements and additions to its Curated Programs feature make the creating and analysing of these compilations easier than ever. Now, it is simpler for creators to understand how their playlists and stations resonate with fans, which is especially helpful if they either solely or predominantly include their own music.

The friction has been taken out of the creation process, so creators can have fun with putting curated playlists together without any headaches. Pandora says, “If you’ve yet to explore Curated Programs, now is the time!”

Users can access their profile in AMP today to experiment and play with the new and improved tools.
