New comedy series on Quibi ‘Royalties’ follows the story of two songwriters
Starring Darren Criss and Kether Donohue, Royalties is a new comedy show coming to short-video-streaming mobile app Quibi June 1st.
Written, produced and starring Emmy-winning artist and Glee actor Darren Criss playing Pierce, alongside You’re the Worst actress Kether Donohue playing Sara, Royalties tells the comedic challenges faced by songwriters in the industry. Guest features from high profile stars, includes Mark Hamill, Julianne Hough and many others.
Royalties is a take on the oft-untold story of songwriters behind the world’s biggest hits. It follows ragtag songwriting duo Sara and Pierce as they navigate the strange and hilarious challenges of creating great songs for insane artists.
Quibi – Royalties
Ten episodes are due to debut, one per day from June 1st. Following each episode’s release, an original song will be published to platforms, with the full season one soundtrack on June 12th.
Each episode will follow Quibi’s unique formulae of 10 minutes or less, designed for on the go watching. Quibi are spending over $1 billion on more than 8,500 episodes of 175 original shows. Interest in the app has been slower than executives would have liked.
