YouTube expands auto-dubbing feature to all Partner Program creators
Having expanded this feature a couple times already, YouTube is rolling out auto-dubbing to even more content creators.
Originally announced in September last year, YouTube’s auto-dubbing tool is being rolled out further to all creators in the YouTube Partner Program. According to YouTube, all creators in the Program can self-enrol via YouTube Studio.
Back in December, YouTube revealed it would be expanding the feature to hundreds of thousands of creators. This meant that a swathe of video creators could transcend language barriers and reach greater audiences around the globe.
The auto-dubbing feature is powered by AI, which works by ensuring the dubbed audio matches the original creator’s tone, intonation, and delivery. This results in a natural dub that helps viewers with a different language to feel immersed in the video and not distracted from the creator.
Automatic dubbing is available for videos in the following languages to be dubbed into English and vice versa:
- French
- German
- Hindi
- Indonesian
- Italian
- Japanese
- Portuguese
- Spanish
YouTube has said, via Creator Insider, that the company is working on expanding auto-dubbing even further to more creators in the future. If you don’t yet have access but are excited to test out automatic dubbing, then “stay tuned”, says YouTube.
The dubbing feature was just one of many AI-powered features, like insights and recommendations, assistive search in Creator Music, and even AI-generated visual content. All this is not to take the art or creativity out of video and content creation, but a bid to empower creators to reach their full potential (and make their lives a little easier).
